9:40 Update--Good News!

Dr. Wellons just came out to tell us the tract stopped at the bone!!! The surgery is done, and he never needed to open the dura (the spinal cord cover). This is such good news! He told us there is a small incision. They'll keep Sam overnight in the hospital and likely let us go home tomorrow!

Sam is still in the OR waking up from anesthesia. We can't wait to see him!

  4. Oh, such great news....thanks so much for letting us all know! Our family is so fortunate.... (unlike the family of DJ Ratliffe, the little boy who has been battling a neuroblastoma for the past 4 years, and for whom Team Meghan was linked as a Pedal Partner in the Pan Massachusetts Challenge in 2009. I just received word earlier this evening that DJ's doctors at Dana Farber Cancer Institute told his parents that there is nothing more they can do, and that he is losing his battle with this terrible disease that has ravaged his little body for so long. SO sad, but his long suffering will soon be over.) Thanks for starting this blog so we can keep in touch with Sam's progress and growth....Lots of love to all, Aunt Pam & Uncle Ron
